The rising insecurity issues in the South West including the kidnap of the Oyo state children has led to the Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho ultimatum of 2 hours to Fulani elders.
On Saturday June 20, 2026, the community chiefs, Fulani elders and police officers from the divisional command were in the palace of the Onigboho of Igboho Kingdom in Oyo State. And Sunday Igboho, the Yoruba Nation activist who fled Nigeria in 2021 after being arrested in Benin Republic and has now returned is standing before them.
He is angry at the rising insecurity issues in Oyo state as a pregnant woman, her children and her sibling have been kidnapped. This made him gives the Fulani elders two hours which is the Sunday Igboho ultimatum.
What He Said at the Palace in Igboho Oyo State That Went Viral Across Nigeria
During the meeting with the community chiefs, Fulani elders, and security officials at the palace of the Alepata of Igboholand, Igboho addressed the rising cases of kidnapping in the area.

Sunday Igboho demanded the immediate release of residents abducted in Igboho, Oyo State. He gave Fulani leaders in the community a two-hour deadline to ensure the victims regain their freedom.
He said ‘Tell your people that I’m giving them a two-hour ultimatum to produce the woman, her sister and the child they kidnapped. If you don’t produce them within two hours, there will be a crisis. I don’t care where they have taken them to, but I’m speaking here on behalf of all Igboho indigenes and elders that you should produce them within two hours.’
He spoke extensively that ‘I am Sunday Igboho. I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen. You can’t be kidnapping people in my hometown.’
Sunday Igboho ultimatum was issued during the meeting held at the palace of the traditional ruler of Igboho attended by community chiefs, Fulani elders and officers from the divisional police command.
Igboho further warned that if the captives are not released, he and his supporters would move against a forest reserve where he claimed that the forest was being used as a hideout by the kidnappers if the captives were not released. He also threatened that he would personally kill any Yoruba person found to be collaborating with the kidnappers.
The Celebration That Spread Across Igboho and the Authority Denial That Followed
Celebration spread across Igboho as abducted victims were reportedly released just after Sunday Igboho ultimatum of 2 hours to Fulani elders.
Videos circulating online showed residents singing, dancing, and rejoicing as the victims returned to the community following their release.
However, there was an authority denial following the release of the abducted victims after Sunday Igboho ultimatum. Both the Oorelope Local Government Chairman in person of Jacob Ogundiran and the Oyo State Police Command debunked the viral reports of the victim’s release.

Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the National Publicity Secretary of Arewa Consultative Forum stated that Sunday Igboho ultimatum to the Fulani ethnic group is unconstitutional, dangerous, and capable of worsening the country’s security challenges.
He called on the Federal Government, security agencies, traditional rulers, and religious leaders to act quickly to prevent the situation from escalating.
