The Oyo school kidnapping has been the major worry of Nigerians in the past 24 days. There are tensions everywhere regarding the sudden rise of insecurity issues in Nigeria.
Parents who sent their children to school with the expectation that they would come back home now suffer in silence after their children are being kidnapped by bandits.
This has stirred pain in society, with the fact that society concluded that the government is showing a nonchalant attitude in saving these children from the captors of the kidnappers.
There have been criticisms of Tinubu, while some find his former tweets about the Chibok girls were abducted. The masses are now calling his attention to save the lives of the innocent children.

What Actually Happened on May 15
In the early hours of Friday, May 15, 2026, between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM WAT, some armed bandit men uniformly attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area, near Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
These schools include Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School (also called Community High School), Ahoro-Esiele / Esinele, and L.A. Primary School, Ahoro-Esiele.
They kidnapped about 49 people, with the majority of them being nursery and primary school pupils. Among the kidnapped people, 7 teachers were also kidnapped, including a school principal.
The Fake Rescue News That Has Made Everything Worse
20 days after the incident on May 15, 2026, a false news went viral claiming that these kidnapped children and teachers had been released.
This Facebook post is attributed to Tope Fasua, who is the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Economic Affairs.

However, the DSP of the Oyo State Police Command and Oyo State governor’s security adviser denied the report to be false news and should not sabotage the efforts made to rescue these kidnapped children and teachers.
Why Is the Government Not Telling Nigerians What Is Happening
After pressures and frustrations from Nigerians towards the government over their silence in this sensitive period of insecurity, a presidential aide named Dada Olusegun addressed the public regarding the abduction case.
He said: “The kidnappers are on social media with us and follow the trends to get updates. You cannot possibly expect the government to update rescue plans on social media if you really have the interest of those kids at heart and it is not just for performative transparency.
There have been other claims that the government has no good news yet, and that’s why they are not addressing the masses regarding the abduction, except for their generic response that they are working on the release of the Oyo school kidnap.
Michael Oyedokun, The Teacher Who Was Beheaded and Why Nigeria Must Not Forget His Name
Two days after the incident of the Oyo school kidnap, one of the kidnapped teachers, named Michael Oyedokun was beheaded and these kidnappers sent the video to the online space, which went viral and drew the concerns of Nigerian on the state of safety in the country.
Michael Oyedokun was a Mathematics teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria.
This was just a man trying so hard to earn an income and serve his country, but along the line, he was killed without any offence. His beheading was not just a murder; it was a public and deliberate act of terror meant to send a message.

This led to the commencement of the strike of the Nigerian Union of Teachers in Oyo State to call the government to action to rescue other victims who were kidnapped during the Oyo school kidnapping.
